Episode 9: Amber Grimes: Releasing What No Longer Serves You
What’s This Episode About?
What would happen if you stopped fighting for things that make you unhappy? The paradox of wanting to do great things in life and yet chasing dreams and goals that no longer serve you because of height and exterior fame will only lead to self-sabotage, unhappiness, and lack of motivation.
The past shouldn’t be a burden. It's okay to eventually let go of things that no longer help you move forward in the direction that you want in your life or serve the person you are today, including your career.
Learn how to leverage your passion and skills to create value. Release what is not serving you, and align with your higher self to create a life of vitality and happiness. It’s worth looking within, figuring out your soul’s purpose, and stepping into the person you desire to be.
Since launching her illustrious career in 2008, Amber Grimes has consistently trafficked in a lane of her own design. This personal journey comprised key positions everywhere from Def Jam and Reebok to Spotify in addition to launching her full service marketing company, Cardi Brand Agency. By 2018, she envisioned, created, and filled the role of SVP, Global Creative at Capitol Music Group—as “the youngest black female SVP in the respective label group”— and would be featured in Forbes, Variety, Billboard, and more.
She now serves as the Executive Vice President and GM of the Atlanta-based record label and management company LVRN.
In this episode, Brittney and Amber discuss:
The importance of grinding early for a long and successful career
Choosing to be independent vs. signing to a label
How to leverage your skills to fill a space in the market
Doing great work and staying mentally and emotionally healthy
Self-improvement and aligning with your highest self
